CANTON – The case against Jason A. McDermitt now rests in the hands of jurors. Closing arguments Wednesday afternoon capped McDermitt s aggravated murder and stalking trial in Stark County Common Pleas Court. McDermitt, 29, is accused of killing his 29-year-old coworker, Morgan Fox, in October. Fox was found partially inside her vehicle in the driveway at her Plain Township home. She was shot twice in the head sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. Oct. 28 and discovered by her live-in boyfriend approximately four hours later. Stark County prosecutors said their evidence is circumstantial but there is direct evidence that McDermitt was sneaky, stealthy and deceptive. They allege he drove to the area, parked in a neighbor s yard and then shot her death on a rainy night as she got ready to leave for work. ....
Middle River Man, 22, Killed in Edgewood Shooting From the Harford County Sheriff’s Office: Detectives with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office are investigating after an adult male was shot in Edgewood. On Tuesday, December 15, at approximately 6:07 a.m., deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1400 block of Hanson Road for the report of an individual discovered with a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The male, identified as Denzel Shabazz Jones, 22, of Middle River, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy. ....
Man Injured in Havre de Grace Shooting Form the Harford County Sheriff’s Office: Harford County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are investigating, and a man is recovering, after a shooting in Havre de Grace late Friday night. At approximately 11:49 p.m. on December 11, 2020, deputies assigned to the Southern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 4100 block of Gravel Hill Road in Havre de Grace for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located Paul Hartman, Jr., 31, suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Deputies immediately began rendering first aid until the arrival of medics. He was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment of what are believed to be a non-life threatening injuries. The victim has already contacted a personal injury law firm to handle the legal process of this case. ....
