COLOMBO (News 1st): The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at the Department of Meteorology on Thursday (May 20) issued an advisory for the formation of a Low-Pressure Area in the East Central Bay of Bengal.
“A low-pressure area is very likely to form over North Andaman Sea and adjoining East-central Bay of Bengal sometime on the 22nd of May. It is very likely to intensify gradually into a cyclonic storm during subsequent 72 hours,” the advisory noted.
The showery condition over the South-western part of the island, that is the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces, and the windy condition over Northern and North-Western provinces are likely to enhance during the next few days, the Department of Meteorology said in its weather advisory issued on Thursday (May 20). ....
