On Tuesday, March 9 the Area Representative for Port Loyola, Gilroy Usher displayed one of the most blatant acts of poor judgement that we have ever seen from a sitting area rep. He tried to forcefully take possession of a piece of property in the Faber’s Road Area by placing a house on it. According to him, because the People’s United Party now forms government, he is responsible for all the government land in his constituency.
The story is ludicrous from beginning to end. On that day, Usher had his operatives move a wooden house that was located on Faber’s Road near to the Muslim Community School in Belize City and attempted to place it on an empty lot further up Faber’s Road. The maneuver attracted the attention of many residents, among them those who have vested interest in the land where he attempted to place the house and those surrounding it. ....
