City of Southport to reopen several facilities beginning June 1

Southport Mayor Joseph P. Hatem announced several city facilities will reopen as of June 1 after being closed due to COVID-19 precautions. This will include the city of Southport Visitors Center, Garrison Lawn, Indian Trail Tree Meeting Hall and City Hall. Some outdoor programs will also be safely reinstated on a limited scale.
All venues will continue to follow N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper’s Executive Order and CDC/NCDHHS guidelines to create a safe environment for all citizens and visitors as they open.
Under the governor’s order, festivals, parades, and mass gatherings are not allowed, so larger events are planned to take place after Labor Day. Remaining city facilities such as the Community Building, Franklin Square and Waterfront Park are also on this timeline for reopening. ....

SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WECT) - Southport Mayor Joseph Hatem announced plans Monday for the opening of several city facilities for the summer and fall of 2021.
The “Steady as She Goes” campaign focuses on reinstating some outdoor programs on a limited scale and opening facilities safely including the City of Southport Visitors Center, Garrison Lawn, Indian Trail Tree meeting Hall, and City Hall from June 1, 2021.
All venues will continue to follow Governor Cooper’s Executive Order and CDC/NCDHHS guidelines to create a safe environment for all citizens and visitors as they open. ....
