In April, five men around 20 years of age died unexpectedly in private residences across Turku. The deaths are suspected to be caused by drug, alcohol and prescription drug overdoses or their combined effect.
According to the police in Southwest Finland, the events may not be directly related, but there are connecting factors.

Police in Turku are investigating two suspected murders and one suspected attempted murder after responding to a report of a shooting in an apartment building shortly after 4am on Saturday morning.
Officers found the bodies of two victims, as well as a third person with injuries, when they arrived at the scene in the Perno district of the southwestern city.
Police say they then arrested a 30-year-old suspect in the stairwell of the apartment building. ....

Police in Southwest Finland say a former employee of a school in the region is under investigation for producing obscene images of children.
The individual is suspected of using the camera on a mobile phone to take pictures of underage girls while they were showering at school, police added.
The alleged act took place some years ago, and the suspect is no longer employed by the school in question.
A second individual who was not employed by the school is also suspected of involvement. ....

The District Court of Southwest Finland on Thursday began proceedings in a trial in which six people stand accused of a string of serious crimes in relation to the treatment of patients at home run by a small private hospice firm.
The offences are suspected to have taken place over the course of a five and a half year period, from December 2009 to May 2015.
The firm at the centre of the case, Kotisairaala Luotsi, had a four-year contract with the city of Turku that ended in late 2014, during which time the company was responsible for the care of about 185 patients. ....
