HENDERSON — The city of Henderson’s sewage system spilled about 47,445 gallons of untreated water on Dec. 16, 2020 due to inflow/infiltration from heavy rain.
The overflows occurred at Sandy Creek Pump Station, and from several manholes including Neatherly Street, the intersection of Alexander Avenue/South Elizabeth Street, the intersection of Alexander Avenue/Willow Lane, the intersection of Pinkston Street/Farrar Avenue, South Pinkston Street (Green Acres) and Rockspring Street.
About 45,645 gallons of untreated water entered a tributary to Sandy Creek. Another 1,800 gallons of untreated water was contained on the ground.
State law requires sewage-system operators to issue a public notice of all bypasses of 1,000 gallons or more that enter surface waters. ....
