At least 50 people in a Klong Toey community in central Bangkok have been confirmed as being infected with the Covid-19 virus.
Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang announced on his Facebook page that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Institute for Urban Disease Control and Prevention had used an express analysis mobile unit to test 925 residents in the community on Tuesday.
The district office and Erawan Medical Centre have been ordered to take the infected to field hospitals as quickly as possible. ....

A leading civil rights activist has slammed the cabinet-approved version of a law aimed to promote transparency of civil society organisations, saying the content has been revised without public input.
Sappasit Khumprapan, chairman of the Centre for the Protection of Children s Rights Foundation, said the bill on promotion and development of civil society organisations contains the word non-profit while the original version does not.
Mr Sappasit, also chairman of a subcommittee drafting the bill, said the word should be dropped from the bill before it is forwarded to the House of Representatives for scrutiny otherwise he will challenge it in the Constitutional Court. ....

The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Thursday praised Thailand s unity as being the key to success in surviving the Covid-19 pandemic at its peak early this year, while Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul vowed the war against the new coronavirus was not yet over.
The unity of all public and social sectors in Thailand and its intensive and extensive health and social measures enabled the country to succeed in the fight to contain the spread of Covid-19, said WHO director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Thursday.
He was speaking at an online address to a national health assembly meeting held by the National Health Commission Office (NHCO). ....
