O’Toole is widely rumoured to be considering a flip-flop on carbon taxes. In order to win over climate-change worried voters in central Canada and on the West Coast, O’Toole is said to be considering a reversal of his opposition to a carbon tax in favour of some form of “carbon pricing” to help Canada achieve “net zero” carbon emissions by 2050. While he and his closest advisers weigh the electoral pros and cons of such an about-face, let me remind them it wasn’t Pierre Trudeau whose actions and policies sparked the rise of the Reform party, it was Brian Mulroney. ....
Article content Alberta has become one of the best places in the world to live, work, and invest in, even though the current challenges we face can overshadow those accomplishments. Iâm both a proud Canadian and Albertan. I take pride in the knowledge that my nation has benefited immensely as a result of my provinceâs success. However, itâs clear that Alberta has not always been treated as an equal and respected partner in our federation. Recently, I asked a senior Liberal a question in the House of Commons about whether the Liberals were intentionally trying to push Albertans toward separation. The response was not unlike the responses my colleagues have received when asking similar questions: I was first dismissed and then accused of politicizing the issue. I wish that were true, but since first being elected in 2019, folks in Alberta are increasingly telling me they feel like Canada has given up on them. These are not simply a few vocal voices at the frin ....

The workers, fighting Shell bosses’ union-busting lockout, held joint action with locked out Gate Gourmet workers. MONTREAL Locked-out Shell Canada oil terminal workers in Montreal-East and Gate Gourmet airline caterers in the Dorval suburb here, all members of the Unifor union, are joining together to fight moves by their bosses to roll back decades of gains in wages and working conditions and to undermine their unions. The Gate Gourmet workers were locked out Nov. 10 and the Shell workers Nov. 27. The 20 Shell workers, members of Unifor Local 121, have been without a contract for almost two years. Negotiations for the Gate Gourmet workers, members of Unifor amalgamated Local 698, started last July. ....
