Vitamin A-plus campaign across Bangladesh began on Saturday for the children aged between six months and 59 months, breaking a deadlock in government’s immunisation programme caused by Covid-19 pandemic.
Unlike other years, the instant campaign is not taking place in any mobile vaccination centres due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Social distancing and other health regulations are to be followed by vaccination staffs and guardians.
The campaign will continue for two weeks during a period from 9am to 4pm daily.
Children aged between six to 12 months are getting blue capsules while those between one to five years red capsules. ....

RANGPUR, June 3, 2021 (BSS) – Experts at a press briefing today said immunization of the under-five children with Vitamin A Plus Capsules strengthens the immune system to ensure their normal and healthier growth.
They viewed this at the event organised by the Civil Surgeon’s Office at his conference room on preparations taken to make the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign (first round) -2021 from June 5 to 19 successful in the district.
The campaign will be conducted under the auspices of the Public Health and Nutrition Institute and National Nutrition Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Planning with UNICEF assistance. ....

DHAKA, 23 December 2020: The National Vitamin A plus campaign has reached 20.8 million children aged between 6 months and 5 years with the important immunity boosting supplement. The two-week campaign, which took place in October, reached 97 per cent of the target, despite the challenges presented by COVID-19. The campaign coverage was officially verified and released by the Directorate General of Health Services, National Nutrition Services and Institute of Public Health Nutrition on 14 December 2020.
“This is a very important win for children in Bangladesh. The campaign was adapted to ensure safety for health workers, children and parents while achieving remarkable coverage,” said Tomoo Hozumi, UNICEF Representative in Bangladesh. ....
