National MP alleges climate change cover up: 'The science of bullsh*t'

National Party MP Stuart Smith has described a government climate change plan as the science of bullsh t during a talk in Ashburton this week.
National Party Kaikōura MP and climate change spokesman Stuart Smith told attendees at an Ashburton public meeting that critical analysis by Niwa had been left out of the National Climate Change Risk Assessment.

Suggestions that warmer temperatures would not cause an increase in extreme rain events, contrary to the government s National Climate Change Risk Assessment (NCCRA) plan were floated by the Kaikōura MP during his presentation.
Smith, who is the National Party s climate change spokesperson, confirmed that he was making official parliamentary enquiries with Climate Change Minister James Shaw around the legitimacy of the report during the meeting which sparked several heated reactions from patrons. ....

The Government has signalled its intention to scrap the 30-year-old Resource Management Act (RMA) and replace it with three new pieces of legislation.
Comprising more than 800 pages, the RMA is one of the most complex pieces of law in New Zealand. The three new acts to replace it would be the Natural and Built Environments Act (NBA), the Strategic Planning Act, and the Climate Change Adaptation Act. The announcement follows an independent review of the RMA last year.
The SMC asked experts to comment on this announcement.
