National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad says Parliament sitting should resume as soon as possible as legislators need to discuss ways in which they can assist people affected by the current COVID-19 situation.
Prof Prasad said the sitting can still be held virtually as Members of Parliament who attended the sitting were advised to isolate for four days and not fourteen, so the Parliamentary sitting can still go ahead from Monday.
He said the members of Opposition did not get an opportunity to discuss important issues in Parliament as they had to clear off government’s old agenda. ....

The Ministry of Health did not direct Speaker Ratu Epeli Nailatikau to cancel Parliament, says National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad.
Prof Prasad said the Ministry only directed for the closure of the offices and chambers.
“This is again contrary to the decision to allow parliament to sit virtually. It renders this process meaningless”.
“We know that the Prime Minister wanted parliament to sit virtually because it wouldn’t be interrupted by any lockdown”.
“Here we have no lockdown. A staff has been identified as a primary contact of a COVID-19 positive case”.
“While we understand the need to close parliament and put staff into self-isolation, we certainly don’t agree with the cancellation”. ....

National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad claims the government is suffering from a disease called cognitive dissonance.
Prof Prasad while speaking in the virtual sitting of Parliament said the government is suffering from cognitive dissonance as they think what they do is always right but they are not.
He said now to survive the pandemic, the government has no other options to increase the economic debt as they will have to borrow more.
“The government have been going on a borrowing and spending spree since 2014. They were spending money like drunkards in the night club,” he said. ....
