Abroad based meeting on EIA held in Dar es Salam at the weekend heard that a sizeable number of businesspeople acquire land for setting up factories in wrong areas, only to be flagged later by authorities hence conflicts, delays and substantial losses. The Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office (Union and Environment), Selemani Jafo called on investors to always check with relevant authorities before setting up shop to avoid eventual delays and losses. ....
Advertisement Armadale Capital plc has reported that the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) of Tanzania has formally granted approval of the company’s Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the production of natural flake graphite at the Mahenge Graphite Project (Mahenge Liandu) in south-east Tanzania. The ESIA is the final necessary step in the mining licence application process. Now that it has been approved by the NEMC, it is now being submitted to the Department of Energy and Minerals to complete the mining licence application process.
