Election 2020: EC to receive results via fax and email; provide masks in polling stations in

“In response to concerns relating to disenfranchising citizens who visit the polling stations without masks, the Commission will provide masks in polling stations in rural communities to ensure that voters who visit our polling stations without masks are provided masks to enable them exercise their franchise,” Jean Mensa told journalists at a press conference on Sunday, December 6, 2020, in Accra.
“This facility is restricted to polling stations in rural communities only,” she noted.
The EC also revealed that it will receive the election results from the various polling stations and regions via FAX and Email.

IMANI, CDD, IDEG, other CSOs criticise ban on NDC demonstrations
Top Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Ghana have appealed in a statement to the Ghana Police Service to preserve their impartiality to protect national peace and security.
The statement, dated Wednesday, December 31, 2020, is signed by Civic Forum Initiative (CFI), Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Norsaac, The Ark Foundation, Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Citizens’ Movement Against Corruption (CMAC), IMANI and STAR Ghana Foundation.
According to the CSOs, the directive by the police placing a temporary ban on demonstrations and protests by National Democratic Congress (NDC) over December 7, 2020, presidential and parliamentary elections is unsettling. ....

Fast-track investigations into election violence and let all know – CSOs to police
A group of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) has commended the Ghana Police Service for the role played in maintaining peace and security before, during and after the December 7 elections.
But the CSOs have raised concerns about the impartiality the police in recent times, especially as supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) continue to protest on the streets over results of the elections.
These conclusions were made in a virtual meeting of the CSOs held on Monday, December 28.
The CSOs are Civic Forum Initiative (CFI), Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Norsaac and The Ark Foundation. ....

7 CSOs petition UN, foreign missions over election results dispute

Some Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have petitioned Head of Foreign Mission in the country over what they described as misrepresentation of election 2020 results and the killing of voters in the just ended General Elections.
They include Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH), Care for Free and Fair Elections Ghana “CARE” Ghana, CFF-Ghana, Democratic Credentials Network Ghana, Back Bone of Good Governance, African Center for Health Policy Research and Analysis (ACH-PRA) and Grassroots Mobilizers Network.
The petitioners claim the Electoral Commissioners has failed to conduct free and fair elections in Ghana especially due to certain unilateral decisions taken by the commission without consultation with key stakeholders. ....
