The National Association of Nigerian Students has urged the Federal Government to add indigent students of tertiary institutions on its Conditional Cash Transfer programme.
NANS President, Sunday Asefon, made this known in a New Year statement issued on Saturday and made available to
The PUNCH.
Asefon also said NANS would launch an e-platform for Nigerian students to report cases of sexual harassment, intimidation, wrongful suspension or expulsion, amongst others in 2021.
He said, “Another great issue of importance to us in 2021 shall be advocacy to have indigent tertiary institution students on the Federal Government Conditional Cash Transfer programme. This, we believe, will go a long way in assisting the active demography of our population. This also must be seen as an investment in the future. ....

EU, Spain provide €19.5 million in support to payment of social allowances by the PA
JERUSALEM, Wednesday, December 23, 2020 (WAFA) - The European Union and Spain provided €19.5 million for a third annual payment of social allowances through the National Cash Transfer Programme benefitting 115,000 vulnerable Palestinian family.
The Office of the European Union Representative in Jerusalem said in a press release that the EU supports the Palestinian Authority s (PA) Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), which is responsible for the provision of basic social protection to the most vulnerable families in the West Bank and Gaza through its Cash Transfer Programme (CTP). For this payment, the European Union has almost doubled its usual financial contribution providing €18.5 million, while Spain allocated its annual contribution of EUR 1 million. ....

The group made this known in a communique signed by Agwu Onyeke, its president, alongside 13 country heads, issued at the end of an online consultative meeting on Friday.
According to the ANPE, the safe return of the schoolboys again highlights Buhari’s political will towards addressing the security challenges in the country.
