Health Minister says A&E to reopen in June

Minister of Health and Wellness, Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic announced on Sunday that the upgraded Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) will be opening in another three weeks.
Speaking at the Barbados Labour Party’s Stan’ Home Political Mass Rally held virtually for the most part, he said that “the weekend of June 12” was the date set for the full reopening to the public, while he noted that construction had ended, and it was in the snagging stages now.
“This is very important,” he said to applause from people at The Lester Vaughan School from where the rally was streamed “live”. ....

Federation of Cancer Patients Associations calls for adoption of a National Cancer Plan

The Federation of Cancer Patients Associations (FABC) considers that a National Cancer Plan needs to be developed and adopted, with FABC representatives arguing that such a framework tool is the only solution for Romania to reduce cancer incidence and mortality and also increase the quality of life of cancer patients through evidence-based medical measures and the effective use of available resources.
Cancer patients are extremely vulnerable to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the situation is exacerbated by the absence of a National Cancer Plan (NPC) that should have clear objectives for cancer control through: prevention and screening, prevention through vaccination, setting out of a clear path for cancer patients to follow from suspicion to diagnosis, treatment and life with cancer, setting in place clear strategies in critical situations that make the cancer patient even more vulnerable, urgently identifying solutions for si ....
