Muscat: The Ministry of Finance (MOF), in coordination with the Supreme Council for Planning (SCP) on Wednesday issued the statement on the State’s General Budget for the fiscal year 2020. This statement presents key financial and economic indicators for FY 2020, and the preliminary results of FY 2019. This is in order to ensure transparency and to inform the citizens, investors, domestic and international institutions of Oman’s fiscal policy for FY 2020.
The State’s General Budget is the main economic instrument, which reflects the Government’s policies and objectives. It can also be defined as a financial programme prepared for the upcoming financial year with the aim to achieve specific objectives within the framework of an approved development plan. The Budget sets out the estimated total revenue and spending on social and economic development. ....

Fuel prices for May announced in Oman| Times of Oman

Muscat: Muscat: Fuel prices for the month of May 2021 have been announced by National Subsidy System (NSS) with an increase in the amount of subsidised fuel.
Meanwhile, starting from today, the amount of subsidized fuel 91 in the National Fuel Subsidy Card will increase to 400 liters per month.
According to the National Subsidy System, the prices of oil for May 2021 , the fuel prices approved for May 2021, including Value-Added Tax will be:
1. M 91 at 215 baisa per litre
2. M 95 at 227 baisa per litre
3. Diesel at 228 baisa per litre

Muscat: The Authority of Public Services Regulation (APSR) has urged citizens who meet the eligibility criteria to register in the National Subsidy System for Electricity and Water Subsidies.
The Authority said in a statement that, The Authority of Public Services Regulation urges citizens who meet the eligibility criteria to register in the National Subsidy System for Electricity and Water Subsidies through the system s application on the phone (the National Subsidy System) or by visiting the website: https://nss.gov.om/site/home?ln=AR to obtain the electricity and water subsidy for January 2021. ....

Oman to phase out water and electricity subsidies in five years

Muscat: Oman will phase out water and electricity subsidies starting from January 2021 until 2025.
Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR), issued decisions announcing the Cost-Reflective Tariffs (CRT) Regulation and the Permitted Tariffs Regulation for connection and supply of electricity and amending some provisions of the drinking water supply tariffs.
These decisions come as part of an initiative to reorient electricity and water subsidy, which is one of the initiatives of the Fiscal Balance Plan (2020-2024) that seeks to lay grounds for the Sultanate’s financial sustainability and upgrade the efficiency of government spending and the social security system. ....
