Massive recall of Honeybee products unprecedented – Pilgrim – Zambia: News Diggers!

PUBLIC health specialist Dr Canisius Banda says the recalling of defective products supplied by Honeybee Pharmacy Limited involving so many products all at once is unprecedented in the health and pharmaceutical history of Zambia.
But Dr Banda has commended President Edgar Lungu for quickly intervening and acting in defence of citizens on the controversial drug rollout by making the necessary changes at the Ministry of Health.
On January 28, 2021, Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) wrote to Honeybee Pharmacy directing them to recall 19 more products from the market, including pregnancy test kits and vaginal inserts. ....

ZRA turns down Honeybee: "We can't disclose taxpayers' information" – Zambia: News Diggers!

THE Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has told Lusaka lawyer Tutwa Ngulube that the Authority cannot disclose News Diggers! Media Limited’s tax compliance information, as demanded by his client Honeybee Pharmacy Limited, because it is confidential in nature.
In a letter addressed to Tutwa S. Ngulube & Company dated January 27, ZRA director for legal services Morgan Mukwasa stated that the law firm could not access any confidential tax information without a court order or express permission from the newspaper as a taxpayer.
“Reference is made to the above subject and your letter tsnCo/2021/lsk/vc/1 dated 22nd January, 2021, addressed to the Commissioner of Taxes. Kindly be advised that the information that your client has requested for is confidential taxpayer information that the Zambia Revenue Authority is statutorily obliged NOT to disclose to your client in the absence of a court order compelling the disclosure or a written consent from News Diggers Media Ltd, authori ....

Honeybee threatens to sue Diggers for libel – Zambia: News Diggers!

HONEYBEE Pharmacy Limited has threatened to sue News Diggers! Media Limited for libel over the publication of “false” articles against them regarding distribution of defective condoms and drugs.
In a letter addressed to the Diggers managing editor, Honeybee’s lawyer Tutwa Ngulube stated that on several dates, Diggers! had “maliciously” published several articles without verification from Honeybee.
Ngulube complained on behalf of his client that News Diggers! further published an article that Honeybee had supplied defective condoms when in fact not. ....
