Frustrated with the disorder during the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) election, Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder dubbed the polls as a model for irregularities .
While speaking to reporters at his EC office yesterday, he also said that the low turnout of voters in the election was an early sign of the people s lack of trust in the election, which is an ominous sign for democracy .

Almost half the complaints filed by mayor and councillor candidates in the Chattogram City Corporation elections, to be held tomorrow, are yet to be addressed.
Besides, police personnel engaged by the Election Commission did not find proof of any wrongdoing over most of the complaints already been dealt with.

The Election Commission (EC) cannot avoid responsibility for any kind of clash which occurs centering the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) polls, Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder said in a statement today.
There is enough reason for concern and fear of clashes during the crucial CCC elections, he said.
Already two people have died centering this election. Life is more valuable than any election, he told The Daily Star over phone.
Mahbub called upon all, including the law enforcement agencies, to carry out their duties in a neutral manner. ....
