Comms Alliance says decreasing rates of telco complaints continue in latest Q1 2021 report

It s reportedly only a small decrease in complaint rates, but at least complaints are down, and not up.
The report details the complaints received by the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) per 10,000 Services in Operation (SIO) for participating service providers for each quarter.
This index allows comparison of the customer service and complaint handing performance of providers, regardless of their size.

For all participating service providers, there were 6.9 complaints per 10,000 SIOs, a decrease from the 7.0 ratio in the October – December quarter. Individual provider results were mixed, with some falling and others remaining steady or rising. Australia’s telcos have urged the Federal Government to to do further work on the Sylvan Review’s recommendations for improving funding of financial counselling.
According to telecoms industry peak body Communications Alliance that’s the position of telcos following Financial Counselling Australia’s (FCA’s) report on their recent survey of financial counsellors, with CA CEO John Stanton noting that financial counselling is a vital service for many Australians, and the FCA report shows that “financial counsellors have had some mixed experiences when working with telcos on behalf of their clients”. ....

ACMA report shows telcos supporting customers in financial hardship
A new report from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) reveals more than 19,500 residential customers and 1,500 small business customers entered into a financial hardship arrangement with their telco in the 2019-20 financial year.
The report, which analyses telco data on customers in financial hardship arrangements, provides some indicator of the extent to which the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on telco customers, particularly small business.
Data shows there was a significant increase in the number of small business customers accessing telco financial hardship programs in March-June 2020, with the total level of debt from small businesses in financial hardship three times higher in June than during the pre-COVID-19 period of the financial year. ....
