Lafiya Dole commander retained as army carries out major reshuffle

Farouq Yahaya, a major general and commander of operation Lafiya Dole, was not affected in the redeployment.
Lafiya Dole is the army’s foremost operation launched to fight the Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east.
The deployment of the officers comes a day after the Nigerian air force, its sister organisation, carried out a similar redeployment.

In a statement signed by Mohammed Yerima, army spokesperson, the action was said to be a bid to reposition the army for optimal performance.
The army said the posting which was approved by Ibrahim Attahiru, the army chief, is a normal routine aimed at reinvigorating the system. ....

GOC presents Christmas gifts to displaced families in Borno

Maiduguri, Dec. 30, 2020 (NAN) Maj.-Gen. Abdul Khalifa, the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, on Wednesday presented Christmas gifts to displaced families in Gubio Camp in the Jere Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), comprising 6,664 households and 32, 232 individuals, were displaced from Abadam, Kukawa, Monguno, Nganzai, Bama, Konduga, Ngala, Kala Balge and Gwoza LGAs in the aftermath of insurgents attacks in 2015.
Presenting the items to the IDPs, Khalifa, who was represented by Lt.-Col. Andrew Wuyep, Commander of 195 Battalion of the Army, disclosed that the gesture was to celebrate with the displaced families and to put smiles on their faces during the festive period. ....

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Mukan psc, has commended the O. B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation for its yuletide outreach to the Rivers State Police Command and in particular, the widows of fallen heroes of the command.
The Police Boss made the commendation while receiving bags of rice donated by the O. B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation as part of its Christmas outreach to the Rivers State Police Command.
The elated Police Boss said he was surprised to have received the news that the Foundation was visiting the command to reach out to both widows of fallen heroes and the Police Command. CP Joseph Mukan commended the Foundation for its passion for widows and prayed God to increase the efforts of the O. B. Lulu-Briggs Foundation as well as those of Dr. Mrs. Seinye O. B.
