The actual revenue shortfall for 2020/2021 could be up to R30bn smaller than that projected in the budget based on January revenue figures, PwC tax policy leader Kyle Mandy told MPs on Wednesday.
Such an outcome would assist the Treasury in marginally reducing its debt mountain, which is projected to translate to a debt-to-GDP ratio of 88.9% in 2025/2026.

In order to further boost foreign portfolio investments in the corporate bond segment, the RBI has proposed to exempt FPI investment in defaulted corporate bonds from the short-term limit and the minimum residual maturity requirement under the Medium Term Framework.
Detailed guidelines are being issued separately, said the RBI. At present, foreign portfolio investors can invest in security receipts and debt instruments issued by Asset Reconstruction Companies and debt instruments issued by an entity under the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process, as per the resolution plan approved by the National Company Law Tribunal under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code ....

Mumbai, Feb 5 : In a bid to promote more investments by foreign portfolio investors (FPI), the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to extend exemptions to FPIs into defaulted corporate bonds.
FPIs in defaulted corporate bonds will be exempt from the short-term limit and the minimum residual maturity requirement under the Medium Term Framework (MTF).
At present, FPIs can invest in security receipts and debt instruments issued by Asset Reconstruction Companies and debt instruments issued by an entity under the insolvency process and these investments are exempted from the short-term limit and minimum residual maturity requirement under the MTFs for investment by FPIs in corporate bonds. ....
