Unfortunately. The pandemic and the renewed lockdown has left things looking dire.
No one will understand the pain that we are going through , says Mia Alauddin, the Vice President of Bangladesh Film Distributors Association. Mia is also the owner of Narayanganj s Sathi Cinema Hall. We are struggling to merely survive.
The association had a meeting with government officials last July, and had received some monetary help. Thanks to our honourable Prime Minister, we were able to give BDT 2500 to 5 staff members of each halls during that time. However, this lockdown means we will face tough times again , says Alauddin, who says that not even 50 percent of the pre-pandemic audience show up to theatres now. ....

The 19th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) will kick off tomorrow at the main auditorium of the Bangladesh National Museum. This year s festival is dedicated to the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Government of the People s Republic of Bangladesh, Dr A K Abdul Momen MP is expected to be the chief guest on the occasion, along with Indian High Commissioner H.E. Vikram K Doraiswami as a special guest. Owing to the ongoing pandemic, the DIFF will be held in a hybrid format, with both physical and virtual arrangements. ....

The 19th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) will be held in Dhaka from January 16 to 24. The general theme of the festival is Better Film, Better Audience and Better Society . Since 1977, the event has been organised by Rainbow Film Society.
The inaugural ceremony of the DIFF will take place in the main auditorium of the Bangladesh National Museum at 4pm on January 16. Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Government of the People s Republic of Bangladesh, Dr A K Abdul Momen, MP, will be present as the chief guest and Indian High Commissioner Vikram K Doraiswami will be present as a special guest at the ceremony. ....
