N.J. dancer overcomes challenges to land role of Sugarplum Fairy in special Nutcracker performance

It’s been nearly a year since ballet dancer Rebecca Jones got on stage and performed, but the wait might’ve been worth it for the England native.
That’s because Jones, in her sixth year as a dancer with the Atlantic City Ballet, enjoyed a pair of firsts, playing the Sugarplum Fairy for the first time in the Nutcracker, and getting a chance to share the performance with her family across the pond.
“I’m happy it’s going to be online this year,” Jones said. “With my family all being overseas still, they don’t get the opportunity to seem me dance and perform as much as they like to. My parents come over occasionally when they can, but I have all four grandparents over there who definitely can’t make the trip from England. ....
