Okoboji Foundation Allocates More than $350,000 to Area Non-Profits

Okoboji, IA (KICD)– Eight area non-profits will be getting some assistance from the Okoboji Foundation as part of the 2021 grants process after more 350-thousand dollars was allocated.
The foundation received 767-thousand dollars in grant requests for the new cycle with 150-thousand will be going to Ducks Unlimited, 80-thousand to Dickinson County Trails, 30-thousand dollars to the Maser Monarch Lodge and 25-thousand each to Pearson Lakes Art Center and the Francis Sites Wetland project.
The organization’s Youth in Philanthropy student group also awarded $24,500 to Camp Foster, over 15-thousand dollars to the Okoboji School District and nearly 65-hundred to the Friends of the Milford Library. ....

MILFORD For as long as she can remember, the Milford Library has been an integral part of Ashley Volkens’ life. The new Friends of the Milford Library’s 2021 president, Volkens said it was time for the library to take a more leading role in the community at large.
Volkens was named incoming president for 2021 at the Friends of the Milford Library’s virtual Annual Meeting and Thank You Celebration on Sunday, Jan. 24. She has been involved with the group for three years, two years on the board and one as a volunteer for the Party in the Stacks. Her love of books began much earlier, though. ....
