The Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) has welcomed the forensic audit instituted by the Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation into its affairs, and says it has, in fact, reached out to the Director General to âmove the matter forwardâ.
While the Board does not know the reasons for the forensic audit â which was called for on March 1, it is confident that all its affairs are in order and will âfully cooperateâ with the process.
In a media statement on the matter, chairman Nkosinathi Biko notes that the Auditor-General has been the EAABâs auditor since 2018, and received a âclean auditâ in the most recent financial year. ....

Cape Town – The embattled and long-troubled Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) is facing the wrath of the law and government in what can only be described as a bad start to the month for the regulatory body.
Not only is it facing a forensic audit but also a legal battle to try and force it to issue outstanding Fidelity Fund Certificates to qualified agents.
Earlier this week, Minister for Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation Lindiwe Sisulu, in a “powerful demonstration of support for the property industry”, ordered a forensic audit of the EAAB. ....

CAPE TOWN - THE ESTATE Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) intends to defend legal action taken against it by the Real Estate Business Owners of South Africa (Rebosa) organisation, due to a near decade-old issue of the regulator not issuing Fidelity Fund Certificates (FFC) on time.
Last week, Rebosa said it had resorted to taking the EAAB to court for shoddy services delivery, following “years of attempted collaboration” in trying to resolve the problem, Rebosa chairperson Tony Clarke said in a statement.
Rebosa was going to court on behalf of “hundreds of members” who had not been issued its FFC for 2021. ....
