Rabindra Senapati, a farmer from Puri district of Odisha has little more than three acres of land. He does not know about the three new farm laws in place, but his basics are clear. “If the new laws provide us with the option of selling our crops in a distant place at a better price, it bears no meaning for us. We are small farmers. We cannot take our small produce to distant cities to sell to a private player who may offer a better price than the minimum support price (MSP) that the government pays us. How shall we arrange vehicles to transport? Uncertainties are involved in such an arrangement. Once we park our paddy at their places, we are at their mercy. BHUBANESWAR: Farmers on Saturday organized symbolic protests for two to three hours by blocking roads at several places across the state protesting farm laws and alleged harassment of farmers in Delhi. Traffic was partially hit at different places including NH16 passing through the capital city.
Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) has blocked the National Highway-16 at Pahal here for over 30 minutes between 12 o’clock and 12.30pm. Traffic movement was affected from both directions. Police urged the protestors to clear the road and the stretch was cleared for vehicular movement later. This outfit has also conducted chakka jam protests at other places of the state. ....

BHUBANESWAR: Farmers led by their outfits on Saturday staged dharna and hunger strike at different places of the state in order to show solidarity to the farmer movement in Delhi and protesting the farm laws.
All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), an umbrella organisation of different farmer outfits, organised the hunger strike and dharnas at Lower PMG in Bhubaneswar, some places in Puri, Kendrapada, Gajapati Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Ganjam, Rayagada like districts.

BHUBANESWAR: The farmers and their outfits are preparing to hold the hunger strike on January 30, Martyr’s Day. They will organise this strike across the state starting from rural areas to urban centres. They said that the protest introduced by the Father of the Nation almost a century ago is a great medium to give a message to the Centre against the farm laws.

BHUBANESWAR: Farmer outfits in the state will hold protest marches in the state capital and district headquarters on the occasion of the Republic Day to express solidarity to the farmer movement in Delhi. Their major demands are repealing farm laws and ensuring minimum support price (MSP) of agricultural produces by the government.
The farmers under the banner of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), an umbrella forum of several farmer outfits in the country including Odisha, will hold these protest marches.
