That is according to Nikenbah cane farmer Ashley Petersen, who said even more would be welcome in the coming weeks. âItâs absolutely wonderful,â he said of the rain. âJanuary is the month for us, so it couldnât be better.â Mr Petersen said about 30 to 40mm of rain had fallen in consecutive weeks. He said while there had been no run-off for the dams, there had also been no erosion that could hurt the crops. The fifth generation farmer said he was hoping for another week of rainfall with similar totals. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A Fraser Coast man was fined a total of $1400 and disqualified from driving for various drug related offences. Zacariah Saimoun was charged and pleaded guilty to possessing a dangerous drug, namely cannabis; unlawfully possessing a thing, namely a bong or pipe to be used in connection with a dangerous drug; and driving with a relevant drug present in his saliva, on two separate occasions. The court heard just after midnight on December 11 2020, Saimoun was driving at Nikenbah when police pulled him over to search for suspected dangerous drugs. “Police found a plastic container with a small amount of leafy material,” the prosecution said. ....
UPDATED 3.30PM Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour has urged residents to stay calm and follow the advice of health authorities following positive wastewater Covid test results. The Pulgul positive sample was taken on January 5. The site, which services Kawungan, Nikenbah, Scarness, Torquay, Urangan and Wondunna had returned negative samples in the weeks preceding. Maryborough, which services Aldershot, Granville, Island Plantation, Maryborough, Maryborough West, Oakhurst, St Helens and Tinana returned positive results on samples taken on December 22 and January 4. The sample taken from before Christmas was delayed in transit and a negative sample was taken on January 5. It had been negative in the weeks preceding. ....

Premium Content WORK is rapidly progressing at the site of a new roundabout at Nikenbah. Two-way traffic will be restored at reduced speeds for the next three weeks after traffic was reduced to one lane to work on the project. The new roundabout is being built at the Main Street-Chapel Road-Maggs Hill Road intersection. The new 40-metre diameter roundabout is the final stage of the upgrade of Main Street from the Esplanade to Booral Road, Fraser Coast Regional Councillor Denis Chapman said. Work started in mid-September and is still on track to finish by the end of February 2021, weather permitting. ....
