Senate’s Public Investments and Accounts Committee was on fits and starts in South Nyanza for a second day yesterday after it adjourned business for a second time following inadequacies of parties’ subject to it.
On Tuesday, the Committee could not carry out physical inspection of three county projects in Nyamira which were part of the query contained in the Auditor General’s 2018/19 Financial Audit Report after it rained, hampering the activity.
The rains came down immediately after the senators had paid Governor Amos Nyaribo a courtesy call. The visitation that failed was to follow the courtesy call, but the legislators had to jump it and proceed to their hotel in Kisii Town. ....

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], January 22 (ANI): Amidst strong opposition from United Democratic Front (UDF), an unprecedented resolution presented by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan against Comptroller & Auditor General s (C&AG) report was passed by Kerala Assembly here on Friday through the vote on account.
Moving the resolution under Rule 118 in the Kerala Assembly, the Chief Minister said, There are rules and regulations in place to conduct C&AGaudit. What happens if you consciously override the procedures that have been in place for ages?
The resolution rejected the remarks regarding Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) from Page no 41 to 43 of the state financial audit report of the C&AG. ....

Gender budgeting is an important tool to analyse the budgets from the perspective of gender-specific fiscal expenditure. Its primary objective is to address the problem of gender inequality to ensure that Union and state budgets make allocations towards gender-specific schemes aimed at improving the socio-economic condition of women. It is heartening to know that while the share of the gender budget declined marginally in the Union budget for 2020-21, Assam has been recording a significant rise in allocation towards gender-specific schemes since 2018-19 financial year. It increased from Rs. 3532 crore in 2017-18 to Rs 13,031 crore in 2018-19. The allocation under gender budget increased to 12.1 per cent of the total budget allocations and 4.13 per cent of the Gross State Domestic Product ....
