GEORGE TOWN: Penang has allowed the tarawih and Aidilfitri prayers to be performed in areas placed under the Movement Control Order (MCO) and Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), based on mosques and surau capacity, effective today.
Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIPP) director Mohd Zakuan Zakaria said apart from that, all religious activities including Friday prayers were also allowed in mosques and surau in the MCO and CMCO areas.
“For Aidilfitri prayers, the imam must recite a short surah or verse during the prayer and the total duration of the prayer including takbir, prayer, sermon (khutbah) should be over by 45 minutes. ....

KUALA LUMPUR – As Aidilfitri draws near, there still are some individuals who are stubborn and willing to break the law to cross state borders although the interstate travel ban comes into effect today.
In KELANTAN, after over 1,000 vehicles that tried to enter the state were ordered to turn back yesterday, another 366 vehicles were ordered to do the same from 12 am till 7 am today for not having police permits.

“Currently, roadblocks are conducted at three entry points into Kelantan – Jeli, Gua Musang and Pasir Puteh – and 1,426 vehicles have been ordered to turn back,” Kelantan Police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said when contacted by Bernama today. ....

Police reject 583 applications for inter-state travel at LTSAAS

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 583 applications for inter-state travel via air at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport police station in Subang, here, were rejected from April 30 until yesterday.
Petaling Jaya district police chief, ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said this was because the applications were found to be unjustified and illogical, and the travel documents submitted were either not valid or incomplete.
He said the applications approved were only for those attending the funerals of close family members such as their own partners, children, parents or siblings; emergencies; and long-distance married couples. ....
