Kenya, Burundi sign deals to boost economic ties

Kenya and Burundi have signed bilateral agreements on trade and investment to strengthen economic ties between the two East African Community member states.
After a bilateral meeting between Presidents Evariste Ndayishimiye and his host Uhuru Kenyatta in State Lodge Kisumu, the two sides on Monday signed deals on agriculture, livestock and fisheries, public service, foreign affairs, trade, sports and culture.
The two leaders also directed their respective ministers to address bottlenecks and barriers inhibiting trade between the two countries, including the use of Lake Victoria as a means of transportation and livelihood. ....

KISUMU, Kenya, May 31 (Xinhua) Kenyan and Burundian governments on Monday inked a raft of agreements to strengthen cooperation between the two East African nations.
The agreements, which were signed in Kenya s lakeside city of Kisumu and presided over by Kenya s President Uhuru Kenyatta and visiting Burundi s President Evariste Ndayishimiye, focused on agriculture, public service, foreign affairs, trade, sports and culture.
According to a statement issued after the signing, the two countries also resolved to prioritize education in their post-COVID-19 recovery plans and reiterated their commitment to the progress of the East African Community. ....
