LONGi wins at Solar Congress for 5th Consecutive Year

Its Hi-MO 4 and Hi-MO 5 high-efficiency modules won awards for Photovoltaic (PV) Module Outdoor Energy Yield (Monofacial Group) and PV Module Energy Yield Simulation (Bifacial monocrystalline group) respectively.

Testing at the Institute for Solar Energy Research (ISFH) in Hamelin, Germany, has confirmed that the conversion efficiency of N-type monocrystalline bifacial TOPCon cells developed at LONGi’s Cell R&D Center has reached 25.09%, the first time that the efficiency of a TOPCon cell based on a commercial size silicon wafer has exceeded 25%.
Based on its original innovative industrialized cell technology, the LONGi Cell R&D Center continually provides upgrades to PV industry technology. Indeed, in January 2019 the company achieved 24.06% front conversion efficiency for a monocrystalline bifacial PERC solar cell, a record which still stands. ....

Solar cell with transparent passivate contact achieves 23.99% efficiency
German scientists have built a solar cell with ultra-thin transparent layers that are claimed to be effective in preventing recombination events. The technology, which has the potential of achieving efficiencies close to 26%, may be easily scaled up for commercial production.Researchers from the Jülich Institute for Energy and Climate Research (IEK-5) in Germany claim to have fabricated a prototype of solar cell based on a transparent passivate contact (TPC) with a power conversion efficiency of 23.99%. The result was confirmed by the CalTeC laboratory of the Institute for Solar Energy Research .
