Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) has said that the quality of education in Nigeria had degenerated to the extent that many graduates cannot defend their certificates.
Babalola, who expressed displeasure at the declining standards of education, particularly university education, called for urgent action to correct the trend before it was too late.
He said this during a reception for 37-year-old Prof Damilola Sunday Olawuyi, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships of the institution who recently became a SAN, Punch is reporting.
The ABUAD founder, who spoke on how his law chambers produced 24 SANs including Olawuyi of his university, said, “I love bright, hardworking and industrious people, like Prof Olawuyi. ....

Igbajo town celebrates 37-year-old professor turned SAN

Legal luminaries from different parts of the country trouped to the ancient town of Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government Council Area of Osun State at the weekend to participate in a reception held for Professor Damilola Sunday Olawuyi who was recently conferred with honour of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on December 14, 2020.
Professor Olawuyi who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Afe Babalola University Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) is the third lawyer from Igbajo to be conferred with such professional honour by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee. He joins two other illustrious ambassadors of the town Asiwaju Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) and Dr Victoria Olufunmilayo Awolomo (SAN) who have attained the rank. ....

Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola SAN has said President Muhammadu Buhari was ill-advised and ought to have appeared before the National Assembly to explain his government’s efforts in addressing the deteriorating security situation in the country.
Worried by the worsening insecurity in the country, the House of Representatives had penultimate week invited the president to appear before it to talk on how his administration is working to address the ugly trend.
The president had earlier fixed last week Thursday to appear at the chamber, but the visit was cancelled following advice from the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami SAN that the lawmakers lacked the constitutional power to invite the President to the house. ....
