Flood in Sarawak: 67 victims at two relief centres

KUCHING: Floods hit Sarawak again since two days ago following incessant rain, but the situation is reported to be improving with only 67 evacuees at two relief centres today, from 522 people yesterday.
The State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, in a statement today, said only two relief centres were still opened, from five, yesterday.
The two relief centres that are still in operation are the Kampung Entingan Multi-Purpose Hall and the Kampung Nangka Community Hall, both in the Samarahan district.
The weather in the district is also reported to be fine.

THE situation in two districts affected by the floods in Terengganu  has been restored with the closure of 17 relief centres today after all the evacuees returned home.
Head of the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Che Adam A. Rahman said four relief centres in Kemaman and Dungun were the last to close at 2pm today.

KEMAMAN – Individuals or any non-governmental organisations (NGOs) from COVID-19 red zones are not encouraged to come to Terengganu to deliver aid to flood victims.
Terengganu police chief, Datuk Roslee Chik said, currently, the total 6,087 personnel from 16 agencies was still ample for flood rescue and aid operations in Terengganu.

“If there are NGO which still want to come and give assistance, they must register with the district office, Social Welfare Department or the nearest police station so we know which zone they are from. ....

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Terengganu and Kelantan continued to record an increase in the number of flood evacuees while more temporary relief centres (PPS) were also opened as at 5pm Saturday (Dec 19).
In
TERENGGANU, the number of evacuees rose to 5,776 people from 1,478 families at 4pm Saturday compared to 4,094 people from 996 families at 7am.
Terengganu State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat chief Lt Col (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said 13 more relief centres had been opened, bringing the total number of PPS operating in the state to 46. ....
