NAHCON to adopt Malaysian, Indonesian Hajj models

Determined to overcome the likely consequences of the cancellation of the annual pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia for two consecutive years, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has revealed plans to adopt the Malaysia and Indonesia system of Hajj operations to deal with the congestion.
The chairman of the Hajj Commission, Alh Zilkrullah Kunle Hassan, disclosed this while addressing Journalists.

He said he was hoping that foreign nationals would be allowed to perform this year’s pilgrimage after Muslims all over the world were given limited opportunity to perform lesser Hajj (Umrah) earlier in the year, but since that did not happen, the Commission is determined to overcome the challenges ahead. ....

Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau back Jaiz Bank's Hajj Savings Scheme

Bauchi, Gombe and Plateau States have pledged support for the newly introduced Hajj Savings Scheme by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and Jaiz Bank to ease hajj processes for Muslims in Nigeria.
Governors Bala Muhammed of Bauchi, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe and Simon Lalong of Plateau endorsed the scheme at the launching and sensitisation exercises in their respective states during the week.
Governor Bala, who personally launched the scheme in the state for the northeast, said the new scheme would make it easier for intending pilgrims to perform hajj in Saudi Arabia, adding that funds realised through the scheme would be invested in halal products that will generate profits for the savers. ....

Pilgrims funds safer in Hajj savings account -- Gov. Sule

Keeping pilgrims fund in the newly introduced Hajj Savings Scheme is safe, reliable and free from any unforeseen temptation, the governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has said.
Speaking at the launch/sensitisation of the scheme in Lafia, Nasarawa State, Mr Sule said the scheme, beside easing the Hajj processes, will reduce the chances of redirecting the pilgrims’ funds for other activities outside Hajj operations.
He said the HSS came at the right time when various governments are withdrawing gradually from sponsoring religious activities. He emphasised that Muslims will now be better prepared at their convenience to perform Hajj, being one of the pillars of Islam. ....

"Hajj savings scheme will boost MSMEs, financial discipline"

The newly introduced Hajj Savings Scheme by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in collaboration with State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards and Jaiz Bank Plc will boost access to finance Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Abubakar, has said.
Speaking at the launch and sensitisation of the Scheme in Dutse, Jigawa state, the governor said the scheme will assist the people especially in the rural areas to embrace savings for future investments even after performing the Hajj.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Umar Namadi, said the state government will collaborate with the pilgrims board to sensitise everybody across all the local government councils. ....

NAHCON, PTF to roll out COVID-19 preventive measures for pilgrims

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) staffs during the closing ceremony and certificate issuing to five staff of the commission, certified with professional certificate in Islamic Banking and Finance (PCIBF) by International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIIBF) – Bayero University Kano.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has said it would collaborate with the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 and the Federal Ministry of Health to map out strategic guidelines on COVID-19 preventive measures to safeguard Nigerian pilgrims during the 2021 hajj operation.
