Haldimand council cost $595,000-plus last year

Remuneration for the six councillors representing county wards ranged from $77,575 to $75,935.
The figures came to Haldimand council on March 30 in a report from treasury staff.
The report said Hewitt collected a base salary of $107,875 last year.
Benefits that may include life insurance, dental plan, Canada Pension Plan, and premium payments as a member of the Ontario Municipal Employee Retirement System (OMERS) were worth an additional $23,659.
The report, which was prepared by Haldimand treasury staff, says Hewitt collected another $12,700 in mileage last year. He was also re-imbursed $1,110 for wireless charges. ....

Norfolk Council Sees $25K Cost Increase In 2020

The annual remuneration report has been released by Norfolk County showing how much our elected officials made in 2020.
The highest-paid elected official locally was Mayor Kristal Chopp, with her base salary combined with mileage and other expenses such as conferences adding up to $106,797.
The next highest-paid councillor was Amy Martin earning $49,874 who didn’t claim any mileage but did not conference and other expenses.
The order of pay then goes Tom Masschaele ($47,433), Ryan Taylor ($46,948), Chris Van Paassen ($46,842), Michael Columbus ($46,266), Ian Rabbitts ($46,259), Kim Huffman ($46,170), and Roger Geysens ($40,747).
The total amount for all councillors combined added up to $477,336. ....
