SRINAGAR: Amid “alarming surge” in COVID-19 infection cases, Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal on Monday ordered that filing as well as hearing of cases in the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir as well as in the District and Subordinate Courts and Tribunals shall be conducted through Virtual Mode till May 15.
As per an order, the Chief Justice has directed that the entry of litigants, public and clerks of the Advocates into the Court premises from the very outer gate shall be strictly prohibited in both wings of the High Court. ....

JAMMU, Apr 23: Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Rajnesh Oswal today expressed serious concern over the failure of the Government to overcome the acute shortage of doctors in the rural areas of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir even after repeated directions during the past three years.
Moreover, the highest court has sought to know what steps have been initiated by the Health and Medical Education Department so far or being contemplated so as to check reluctance on the part of freshly recruited doctors in providing services in the rural parts of Jammu and Kashmir. ....

Virtual hearing of cases in courts in J&K, Ladakh extended till April 30
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir High Court extended by the end of this month its order regarding virtual hearing of cases amid surge in covid-19 upsurge.
“After taking note of the rising trend of Covid-19 Infection cases and the prevailing situation due to the spread of such infection, the High Court order No. 189 of 2021/RG dated 05.04.2021, is extended up to 30th April 2021,” reads an order by Registrar General, Jawad Ahmad.
The April 5 order was issued by Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and by virtue of it, the hearing of cases in the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir as well as in the District and Subordinate Courts and Tribunals shall be conducted through “virtual mode” only. ....
