PESHAWAR: A single-member Peshawar High Court bench on Monday confirmed the pre-arrest bail of Supreme Court Bar Association president Abdul Lateef Afridi, who was charged by the counter-terrorism department (CTD) with abetting the killing of an anti-terrorism court’s judge and his three family members last month.
Justice Mohammad Nasir Mehfooz accepted Lateef Afridi’s bail plea after the completion of arguments by both sides.
The petitioner was given an interim pre-arrest bail by the court on Apr 7. ....

Five medical colleges involved in irregularities, PHC told - Newspaper


PESHAWAR: A Peshawar High Court bench was informed on Tuesday by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) that five private medical colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were involved in irregularities in the recent admission process as they manipulated the 20 per cent interview marks.
The bench of PHC Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Mohammad Nasir Mehfooz was informed in two separate inquiry reports submitted by NAB and FIA that five of the 17 private medical and dental colleges in the province manoeuvred the admission process wherein lower aggregate candidates of MDCAT were pulled into merit by awarding them higher marks in interviews. ....

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has ruled that indecent and objectionable material is being uploaded on the popular video-sharing application TikTok without restriction in violation of Islamic moral values and ethics, so the ban will continue in the country until a mechanism is in place to filter such content.
In the detailed order on a petition against TikTok, a bench consisting of Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan and Justice Mohammad Nasir Mehfooz directed the Pakistan telecommunication Authority to ban the Chinese-made app in the country until some mechanism was introduced to filter its material, which was immoral and indecent and violated social norms and ethics. ....
