PORTAGE, Mich. — The Portage Police Department named Nicholas Johnson a person of interest in the case of the disappearance of Gary and Laura Johnson, his parents.
“He was arrested on unrelated charges to this,” Public Safety Dir. Nicholas Armold said during a news conference at headquarters on Thursday. “Clearly anytime there’s a case like this you’re always looking at any family members. So, Nick Johnson was somebody that we were looking for to talk to about this case, and it just turned out that he had multiple outstanding warrants that he was arrested on.” ....

PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Portage police held a news conference Thursday afternoon, saying that their investigation into missing couple, Gary and Laura Johnson, has shifted from a missing persons case to what is likely a homicide investigation.
“Hopefully they are alive and we are totally wrong. But what we are seeing and what we are finding is leading us to believe they are not alive.” – Portage Public Safety Chief Nicholas Armold
Armold gave very few details about what exactly they have found at their Romence Rd. home that police have been camped out at for days as well as other places where they have been investigating. He says that their son, Nicholas Johnson, is now considered a person of interest in the case while he remains in jail on separate charges of outstanding warrants. Nicholas had been charged in 2019 for an assault at the home of the Johnsons. The Portage couple had feared for their safety and ....

PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Police in Portage are continuing to investigate a case of a couple who were reported missing on Tuesday.
UPDATE Thursday 2/11/2021 6:25 a.m.:
No major updates as of Thursday morning. Police are still on site at the couple’s home on Romence Rd. in Portage. Their son, Nicholas Johnson is in custody and is said to have a lengthy criminal history. He is currently not charged in the disappearance of his parents.

UPDATE: Suspect will stand trial in Amber Walker murder case

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Monday, MLive reported that the suspect accused of murdering a 28-year-old Galesburg woman will stand trial.
Last December, police announced that charges would be brought against 24-year-old Chad Michael White of Kalamazoo in the case. The Sheriff’s Office had submitted charges of Open Murder and Felony Firearm against White in the death of Amber Walker.
Police had reported the discovery of a body at 35th Street and EF Avenue in Richland Township near Three Lakes. The body of Walker had been discovered in a nearby lake. ....
