Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary, Chairman District Legal Services, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar, Abdul Rashid Malik, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Srinagar, Adnan Sayeed, Staff members of DLSA Srinagar, Staff members of Department of Libraries & Research, Health department, Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Srinagar and a large no of citizens of adjoining area were present on the occasion.

5:53PM Reading Zones of SRS Library Jammu and SPS Library Srinagar to remain open beyond official working hours AIR PIC In Jammu and Kashmir, responding to the persistent demand of students and other library users, the Department of Libraries & Research has decided to keep the Reading Zones of SRS Library Jammu and SPS Library Srinagar open beyond official working hours on all working days except gazetted holidays from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM observing COVID-19 protocol.  The Department of Libraries has embarked on a plan of action to reinvent the role of public libraries in J&K by offering Career Guidance and Information Services to students through a vast network of libraries spread across the UT.

JK To Have A Network Of Theme-Based Libraries

SRINAGAR: The Department of Libraries and Research is planning to establish a network of theme-based Reading Zones-cum-Public Libraries in J&K in convergence with various Departments to broaden the citizens’ access to knowledge and information. He said the Libraries Department has already started the process for establishing two Smart Libraries in Srinagar in collaboration with Srinagar Smart City Ltd. “Some more theme-based libraries are being planned in Srinagar and Jammu in convergence with Tourism Department, Information Department, Airports Authority of India Ltd, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Department of Archives, Archelogy & Museums and Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society,”
