Passing lanes north of Prince Albert officially opened Thursday

The two new sets of passing lanes between Prince Albert and Christopher Lake were officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday morning.
Government officials say the project was completed ahead of schedule, and will improve safety on Hwy 2. Officials said they will also improve traffic flow for commuters to and from communities and parks in the Prince Albert area and the province’s north. ....

Over $25-Million in Funding to Improve Infrastructure Allocated to 69 Saskatchewan Rural Municipalities

Saskatchewan R.M.s will be able to improve or build infrastructure in their area, thanks to funding from the provincial government.
$25.7-million has been allocated to 69 Rural Municipalities through the Rural Integrated Roads for Growth (RIRG) program.
The program helps R.M.s cover the cost of constructing and upgrading infrastructure, with grants up to a maximum of $500-thousand.
The R.M.s of Spy Hill #152 and Insinger #275 are receiving the max grant of half-a-million dollars.
Moose Mountain #63 is getting $400-thousand, while Indian Head #156 is getting 442,500 dollars.
The R.M. of Grayson #184 has been allocated over $228-thousand, while the R.M. of Hazel Dell #335 got $240-thousand. ....

Saskatchewan invests in community airports, funding applications open for next year

The Government of Saskatchewan on January 28 released a statement that it has contributed a record $1.5 million for improvements at 15 community airports in its 2020/2021 Budget. The additional funds came from the provincial government’s two-year, $7.5 billion stimulus program focusing on economic recovery from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Saskatchewan’s community airports play an important role in economic growth,” Saskatchewan Highways Minister Fred Bradshaw said. “They also ensure the safety of our communities by supporting vital services like Air Ambulance and firefighting.”

Construction work starts on Highway 1 overpasses by Swift Current

A $18 million construction project is set to begin near Swift Current.
Construction will start up on two overpasses on the Trans-Canada Highway over the CP Rail tracks above five kilometres east of the city. The project will include the full replacement of the existing overpass structure on the eastbound lanes and the rehabilitation of the bridge supporting the westbound lanes.
“This is a very significant investment for Swift Current and all of southwest Saskatchewan given the importance of Highway 1 to our area,” said Swift Current MLA Everett Hindley on behalf of Highways Minister Fred Bradshaw on Monday. ....
