WINDHOEK, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) Namibia s biggest cycling race, the Nedbank Cycle Challenge, slated for Feb. 14 and 21, has been postponed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, the organizers announced Wednesday.
The Nedbank Cycle Challenge is considered the country s oldest competitive cycling race, and can trace its existence back to 1986, said Nedbank Namibia s spokesperson, Gernot de Klerk.
De Klerk said that while the decision to postpone has been a wrenching one to make, they believe it is a prudent resolution, given the wish to support the current health regulations.
The Namibia Sports Commission s chief administrator, Freddy Mwiya, said the commission supports the organizers decision to postpone the event. ....
