Kathmandu, May 7 : Here is some good news in the middle of the pandemic. Nepal s illustrious climber Kami Rita Sherpa ascended the Mount Everest for a record 25th time on Friday, the country s Ministry of Tourism l announced.
With the weather around Mt Eeverest turning favourable for the climbers, a small window for climbing the world s tallest peak was opened on Friday.
The first team of climbers reached the top of Everest, whose height was jointly revised by Nepal and China last year as 8848.86-metre, on Friday evening, becoming the first climbers of the season to conquer the peak, Mingma Sherpa, chairman at Seven Summit Treks, said. ....

Indian mountaineers say that in addition to the steps being taken by Nepal to prevent false climb claims, the Indian government also needs to take strong measures against errant climbers.
India’s mountaineering fraternity hung its head in shame earlier this week as news emerged of Nepal imposing a
10-year ban on two Indian climbers for submitting false claims to have summited the world’s highest peak.
Narendra Singh Yadav and Seema Rani Goswami, both from Haryana, claimed to have made it to the top of Mount Everest in 2016. They were even presented with certificates for their climb by the Nepal authorities. ....

Indian climbers face action over fake photos of Mt. Everest ascent

Kathmandu, Feb 1 (efe-epa).- A Nepalese government investigative committee on Monday recommended revoking Everest climbing certificates and imposing a 10-year ban on two Indian climbers for submitting false documents of their ascent.
According to the committee, Indian athletes Narender Singh Yadav and Seema Rani Goswami, who claimed having scaled the world’s highest mountain in 2016, had retouched photos depicting them standing at the summit of the 8,848.86-meter high mountain.
“A government investigation concluded on Monday that photographs purporting to show the climbers at the top of the world’s highest mountain were fake,” Nepal’s Tourism Ministry spokesperson Taranath Adhikari told EFE. ....
