MUMBAI: A day after chief minister Uddhav Thackeray asked the state administration to stagger working hours of state secretariat employees to ensure social distance without hampering routine work, the chief secretary issued an order, asking department secretaries to decide on the form of staggered timings at their convenience.
Chief secretary Sanjay Kumar issued an order asking all department secretaries to consider the staggered time schedule that could be either an alternate-day work, thrice a week, weekly shift or staggering working day hours.
Kumar’s order states that in the wake of rising number of Covid cases in Mumbai and the state and in order to facilitate adherence to social distancing norms and to ensure that crowding is avoided, staggered work hours may be initiated at the state secretariat. ....
