69 Pulau Gaya residents who escaped to avoid EMCO being tracked down

KOTA KINABALU: The 69 residents of Kampung Pondo, Pulau Gaya, near here, are being tracked down after fleeing the area to avoid the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO), said Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.
Masidi, who is also the Sabah government Covid-19 spokesman, said efforts to track down all the individuals involved were being conducted by members of the Pulau Gaya police station.
“The residents are believed to have escaped while on the way to the Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centre.
“Therefore, the Sabah government urges those who fled from the EMCO area in Kampung Pondo, Pulau Gaya, to return to the village immediately to ensure they do not infect other communities,” he said in a statement last night. ....

Compound issued to Segamat cafe owner for not wearing face mask justified, says Johor's top cop

The Johor police chief said the woman was issued the compound around 11am on Wednesday (Jan 20) at Jalan Yayasan 3 commercial centre in Segamat for not wearing a face mask.
The individual took to Twitter to air her dissatisfaction over the matter, claiming that the area was not crowded.
However, based on an investigation, there were people walking around the shop and the premises surrounding during the incident. Her statement claiming there was no one in the area and that the place was not crowded was untrue.
She was also with another woman who is a cafe worker when the compound was issued, but the second person was wearing a face mask, he said in a statement here on Thursday (Jan 21). ....

13 compounded for defying Covid-19 SOPs in Labuan

LABUAN: Thirteen people were detained by police for defying standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) at food premises here last night.
Acting Labuan police chief DSP Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani said all of them, aged between 28 and 48 years, were compounded RM1,000 each, under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the local Infected Areas) Regulations 2020.
The offenders will be prosecuted in court if they fail to settle the compound fine.
Offences include failing to comply with physical distancing (11) and the others, for failure to register with the My Sejahtera app for Covid-19 contact tracing upon entering food premises. ....
