World Safety Day: NSITF sensitizes public on safety measures

The Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) Kaduna State office has sensitized Nigerians on safety measures to commemorate this year’s World Safety Day.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after a sensitization walk, the Manager NSITF Kaduna branch, Mrs. Fatima Lami Idris, called on Nigerians to be vigilant to ensure safety at all times.
According to her, Nigerians should avoid isolated areas in view of the insecurity bedevilling the country.
She also called on Nigerian workers to ensure safety at work places. “Everyone should take care of him or herself, the awareness is also for workers to take care of themselves,” she said. ....

A former vice-president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Monday Ubani, has said he prayed to God, asking Him to disgrace Ibrahim Magu out of office for keeping him in detention for 23 days against a court order.
Magu, a former acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2020.
It was alleged that he mishandled recovered loot and sold seized assets to his associates.
Ubani said Magu flouted court orders and embarked on a media trial of suspects. ....

His arrest followed his refusal to honour invitations of a panel the president set up to probe the EFCC under his watch.
The panel headed by Ayo Salami, a former president of the Court of Appeal, had indicted Magu of corruption and recommended his sack.
Buhari eventually appointed Abdulrasheed Bawa as chairman of the anti-graft agency.
In a statement, Ubani said he was illegally detained for 23 days on the orders of Magu.
He said his travails started after he accepted to be the counsel of Ngozi Olejeme, a former chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), who was accused of criminal conspiracy, abuse of oﬃce, diversion of public funds and money laundering to the tune of N69 billion. ....
