Seven AIMIM members in Gujarat s Godhra municipality on Wednesday extended support to 17 Independents to deny the BJP another term in power after being the ruling party since 2002.
The AIMIM, which won seven Godhra municipality seats in its debut in the state s politics, extended unconditional support to 17 Independents to form the board, with the posts of president and vice president going to Independents Sanjay Soni and Akram Patel respectively, AIMIM state president Sabir Kabliwala said. ....

SGA debates bill further codifying Senate staff, improved lighting for campus safety

Senators Ciera Thomas, Allison Fine, Bryson Henriott and Will Harris authored the bill to further codify the Senate staff with an intent to clearly explain the purposes of the Senate staff positions and make the Legislative Branch more effective.
Senators Hadden Powell, Gaby Gagliano and Mary Lyn Dyer each spoke against the bill, expressing concerns that the piece of legislation needs to be revised before it can be passed, fearing the piece would limit the Senate staff to the roles described in the bill.
Senators Will Curvin, Kendall Henry and Connor Green, however, openly spoke and debated in favor of the bill, saying that codifying staff positions would increase student’s accessibility to SGA. ....

Town of Unicoi BMA tables "outdated" noise ordinance


The town of Unicoi’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted on Monday night to table an ordinance that would regulate noise and disorderly conduct.
“This isn’t in reaction to anything that has been going on or has been happening,” said Town of Unicoi Mayor Kathy Bullen. “It is proactive as we move forward in the town.”
The ordinance would make disorderly conduct with the intent to cause public annoyance or harm a Class C misdemeanor and would allow law enforcement to intervene. The ordinance would also prohibit noise that is considered unreasonably loud, disturbing or unnecessary noise within town limits. ....
