NORRISTOWN â Nearly 500 Montgomery County residents tested positive for the coronavirus during the latest three-day period, according to county health statistics.
The 473 daily new positive COVID-19 cases, reported in the county during the three-day period Saturday through Monday, brought the countyâs total number of positive cases to 56,533 since March 7, 2020, when the first two cases of the virus were identified in the county, according to the countyâs COVID-19 online dashboard. Three of the daily new cases were individuals who resided in long-term care facilities.
Officials reported no new COVID-19 deaths during the three-day period, leaving the countyâs death toll to 1,281 since the pandemic began a year ago.
NORRISTOWN â As the 59th week of the coronavirus pandemic in Montgomery County came to a close on Friday, health officials reported 194 additional county residents tested positive for the virus with the number of daily new cases appearing to reach a plateau by weekâs end.
The 194 daily new positive COVID-19 cases reported in the county on Friday brought the countyâs total number of positive cases to 56,060 since March 7, 2020, when the first two cases of the virus were identified in the county. One of the daily new cases was an individual who resided in a long-term care facility.
As of Friday, the 14-day average of daily positive COVID-19 cases stood at 208.9 cases. But during the last several days the number of daily new cases appeared to be plateauing and have been under 200. The daily figures included:
NORRISTOWN â While demand for COVID-19 vaccines reportedly has slowed in some parts of Pennsylvania, the demand for the shots remains high in Montgomery County, according to officials.
âWe actually are pretty busy. I know there has been discussion in other parts of the state that they are not so busyâ¦but weâre not seeing that in Montgomery County,â county Commissionersâ Chairwoman Dr. Valerie Arkoosh said during a news briefing on Wednesday.
âWe had an awful lot of pent-up demand here for months while we waited to get more vaccine into this county. I think weâre still working through a lot of people that have been waiting a long time to be vaccinated and they seem pretty eager to do so. Our clinics are pretty full,â Arkoosh added.

The 192 daily new positive COVID-19 cases reported in the county on Thursday brought the countyâs total number of positive cases to 55,866 since March 7, 2020, when the first two cases of the virus were identified in the county, according to the countyâs COVID-19 online dashboard. Two of the daily new cases were individuals who resided in long-term care facilities.
Officials also reported one additional COVID-19 death on Thursday, bringing the countyâs death toll to 1,280 since the pandemic began a year ago.
