A familiar face from the art community in the Maritimes has been tapped to lead the New Brunswick Museum in a transitional capacity.
Bernie Riordon has been named transitional CEO for the NB Museum and will be working with its board and the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture to maintain its collection and also look to address some of the museum’s long-standing facilities issues.
Riordon, born in Bathurst, is already well-known across Canada as a former director of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and most recently led the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and its expansion in Fredericton. ....

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The City of Fort St. John is reminding residents that wrapping paper can’t be recycled, but you can recycle your real Christmas tree.
Christmas wrapping paper, bags, ribbons and bows are garbage and can’t be recycled in Fort St. John. For those with a real tree, you can drop off your tree to be recycled from January 4 to 15. The drop-off location will be at the green-space between the N.P. Museum and Parkour Park in Centennial Park.
You will need to remove all decorations, tinsel and plastic bags before you drop off your tree. The City will use the trees for the High on Ice Winter Festival before they are composted. ....
