At the new Haven Home Furniture & Décor, Tori Klug takes a lot of joy in helping customers spruce up their homes, but she’s most proud of knowing her contributions as the creative director are helping victims of domestic violence.
“It really isn’t about the pretty things and what we try to create,” Klug said. “A volunteer next to me said that we try not to cry about five times a week. It’s a very vulnerable emotional place.”
Safe Haven of Pender, Inc., an organization with a mission to provide healing and hope, is embarking on a new era by opening the store in Hampstead, which offers discounted prices. The history goes back to 1988 when a group of concerned volunteers worked to report reported and unreported rapes in Pender County. ....
