The External Inspection Section of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA) confiscated 1460 banned bird sound devices during the return season of bird migration in March.
There is an increase of 195 devices since March 2020. This increase is due to a rise in inspection patrols.
Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah said, “The Authority is keen to preserve and protect the environment, and spread environmental awareness.
“Accordingly, the specialised teams inspect the various regions and carry out the confiscation of these devices, whilst also conducting awareness campaigns regarding the dangers of overhunting.” ....

SHARJAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 20th Apr, 2021) The External Inspection Section of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA) has achieved remarkable success in confiscating 1,460 banned birds sound devices during the return season of bird migration in March.
This is an increase of 195 devices since March2020, where 1265 devices were seized. This increase is due to a rise in inspection patrols.
Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah, said, The authority is keen to implement its agenda of preserving and protecting the environment, and spread environmental awareness, in line with the vision of H.H. Among the new group that arrived in the safari are gazelles, African wild turtles, crocodiles, African rock python and flamingos.
Over a hundred different animals from mammals to reptiles and birds have arrived in their new home at Sharjah Safari in Al Dhaid’s Al Bridi Reserve, authorities announced on Tuesday.
A number of gazelles, African wild turtles, crocodiles, African rock python and flamingos have officially moved into the 16sqkm sanctuary that is set to house around 50,000 animals.
“The Sharjah Safari is the largest safari project in the world outside Africa, with the presence of African animals that represent all species.The safari is the most important ecotourism destination in the region,” said Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, chairperson of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah. ....

Sharjah Ruler issues Decree to amend several EPAA bodies

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree No. (1) for the year 2021 regarding the addition and amendment of some specialised bodies affiliated to the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA).
The Emiri Decree stipulates that the Al Dhaid Wildlife Centre, Al Hamriyah Mangroves Reserve, and Ghalil Al Sabt Reserve are to be added to the specialised bodies of the EPAA.
